Description:

Venn Construction undertook the revitalization of the Historic Building and Gerardo’s Place, a grey shell building in downtown Phoenix’s Warehouse District. Originally built in 1928, the red brick structure, known for its corner entrance, once housed a café and apartments. The project involved critical infrastructure upgrades, including modern plumbing, new egress points for safety, and enhanced systems to support future business and residential use, while preserving its historic charm.

This adaptive reuse effort also incorporated the adjacent Arvizu’s El Fresnal Grocery Store (1900) as part of The Battery Apartments, a residential development completed in 2021. Nestled between Chase Field and the Ballpark Apartments, this project reflects a perfect blend of historical preservation and contemporary urban revitalization.
